American Idol: Its down to the Top 7
1 ViewsThe ever gloomy elimination night started off with an encore of 'Shout to the Lord' by the Top 8 finalists. After the heart warming encore performance came the time for the elimination.
American Idol host Ryan Searcrest announced that over 30 million votes were cast for the top 8 finalists.
Brook White: Ryan called Brook to the stage and made her read the card he had. Later she found out that she was 'Safe'.
David Cook: Before the result was to be announced, David told Ryan that, he believed the result could go either way. Finally. David Cook was announced as 'Safe'.
David Archuleta: Also announced as 'Safe'.
After the initial three results, came the time for the guest celebrity performance. Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown came onto the stage and sang 'No Air'. Later, Jordin Brown received an awards for for 1 million downloads of "No Air" and "Tattoo" and a half-million downloads of her album.
Jason Castro: Also declared 'Safe'.
Kristy Lee Cook: After a bit of melodrama, she was announced as 'Safe'.
That left Syesha Mercado, Carly Smithson and Michael Johns as the bottom three contestants. Before the final elimination was to begin, there were a flurry of messages from U2 front man 'Bono', Democratic Presidential Candidates 'Hilary Clinton & Barack Obama' and Republican Presidential Candidate 'John McCain'.
So now, the crunch time. Again beginning with the 'dim the light' routine (it's really frustrating at times. I'm sure even the contestants think so.) and then Michael Johns was declared as the finalist with the least number of votes and being eliminated.
Later, Michael said that he was surprised because he really enjoyed singing 'Dream On', but then again this Aersomith track isn't a bad song to go out on. After the elimination round, Randy Jackson said, “You’ve got to keep on rocking, dude.” Paula Abdul also added a few words of encouragement saying, “I’m such a big fan of yours, and you know that.” Now it was Simon Cowell's turn to comment and he said, ““I’m going to miss you, you’re a very, very good singer, and very, very nice guy.” Before leaving the stage, Michael Johns gave an encore performance of 'Dream On'.
So now it's down to Top 7. Considering last night's results, I can no longer bet my money on any of the finalists, because it's just plain crazy out there. It's just best to wait and watch. This is some really exciting reality television.
