Fans voted Stephanie Edwards off leaving some fans shocked.
American Idol themed British Invasion of the Sixties had the contestants singing songs that had been hits from before they were born. Voting on the Entertainment Weekly’s web site shows the top three so far to be Melinda Doolittle, Lakrisha Jones and Blake Lewis. Sanjaya Malakar’s cover of ”You Really Got Me” had one fan in the audience, a young girl, in tears she was so emotionally moved was shown on the show.
Fans voted Stephanie Edwards off leaving ten contestants. After Sanjaya Malakar’s performance this just proves it is not s singing contest it is a popularity competition. Even Peter Noone from Herman’s Hermits said this to Simon. The next lowest in votes was Chris Richardson who sang, “Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying." Stephanie did not turn in a very strong performance; Simon Cowell said she lacked edginess and youthful energy. I thought she looked stiff and scared.
