American Idol has been bringing the world a whole new constellation of stars. Three time Grammy ® winner Carrie Underwood with her Country Music and American Music awards. Pop star Kelly Clarkson with two Grammy awards and double platinum rocker Chris Daughtry. Fantasia Barrino with 1.88 million records sold. It is not just limited to music American Idol brings the world movie stars like Jennifer Hudson winner of the Academy Awards Best Supporting Actress 2006 for “Dream Girls.”

The others that have appeared on American Idol have had their lives changed forever. Even the ones that were eliminated early have been able to move on and make a good living in the entertainment business being able to demand $5,000 to $15,000 just to perform, more than enough to quit their regular day jobs.

The 2007 American Idol season has brought out one of the best groups of female singers we have ever heard. The production values have been moved up with an expanded band that includes horns and strings. We need to wait and see what the guys will do, the guys wil need to improve just to stay even with the girls. Whatever the results, the world now has 12 new entertainers to add to the mix.

Diana Ross would not have been old enough to be on American Idol at the age of fifteen when she started out fronting the all girl group “The Supremes.” She has had forty years of success with one of the most phenomenal careers in the history of music. She has won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Billie Holiday, a Tony, twelve Grammy nominations and two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for the Supremes and the other for herself. Diana Ross has been in the top ten over eighty times with every genre of music from soul, pop, disco and adult contemporary. The list of awards goes on and on with Billboard’s honoree for Female Entertainer of the Century topping the list.

Diana Ross is the American Idol first musical mentor to coach the remaining twelve with her songs. What a great choice to help nurture these new talents. This is something that American Idol does so well. It is an amazing thing to see how rough some of the original auditions are and how the contestants blossom into much more refined entertainers.

This is going to be the best American Idol three months to date.
