Known for her great looks, wild sexy outfits and frequent featuring in celebrity magazines, the actress Bai Ling is now hogging the limelight after being accused and arrested of shoplifting goods worth $16. This has turned into great publicity for her ande her new movie. Next time she should be ready for her photo shoot in the press.

Reportedly, the Chinese actress was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of shoplifting two tabloid magazines and packets of batteries at Los Angeles International Airport.

Sgt. Jim Holcomb of the airport's police department told that the the 37-year-old actress was detained by a store employee who called up the police. After being booked for investigation of shoplifting, was later released when she agreed to appear in court on March 5.

She hasn't made a statement about the episode as yet, and has not even replied instantly to an e-mail sent to her agent on Thursday.

On her personal blog she had posted a picture while waiting, as her flight got delayed, the very day she got arrested. She wrote, "Life is a sad song sometime but still sings the beauty for their loved ones."

Her friend Damon Elliott has said that the actress “had big problems with her boyfriend,” that got her in a “cloudy state of mind” and she as a result become “distracted” leading her to shoplift.

Ling has featured in movies such as "The Crow," "Anna and the King" and in the TV series "Lost."

Incidentally, all the drama has transpired when Bai was on her way to New Mexico to shoot for Taylor Hackford's new movie “Love Ranch,” featuring Oscar winners Joe Pesci and Helen Mirren as a couple who opened the first legal brothel in Nevada. Ling stars a prostitute in the movie. She is now in Albuquerque, for the shoot.

Perhaps, as she browsed through the two magazines and figured that she wasn't featured anywhere, she thought stealing the mags would be a great idea to find her pictures on the covers instantly! Whatever be the reason it's something that's gonna get her just the right dose of publicity she needs for the upcoming movie.
