Love Ranch: Starring Bai Ling

Sexy, demi-Goddess Bai Ling is all set to star in Taylor Hackford’s "Love Ranch" alongside Helen Mirren and Joe Pesci. Bai Ling most recently starred in Hans Petter Moland’s "Beautiful Country" and her credits include "Man About Town" and "Lords of Dogtown."

She was highly praised for her role in the movie "Beautiful Country." In the movie she had played the part of the love interest of Binh (Damien Nguyen), a shy Vietnamese man in his 20s who is on a personal journey, aboard a refugee ship to America in search of a better life and Binh's estranged American father (Nick Nolte).

After bagging a role in Love Ranch, New York Post had reported that the actress was ecstatic as that was just the gift she wanted for Christmas. She said as quoted by the newspaper, "I came from space and Santa followed me. He came to Earth to give me the present of this big movie role."

"Love Ranch" centers on a couple whose relationship was tested by infidelity as they opened the first legal brothel in Nevada. The drama film is said to be inspired by the story of Joe and Sally Conforte, owners of the first legalized prostitution house in Nevada, the Mustang Ranch. Bai Ling would be playing the role of a hooker in the movie. Recently, even sex= Goddess, Gina Gershon has also been roped in to play the part of a veteran hooker.

With such a leading star cast, it seems 37-year-old Ling was missing much of the spotlight. It was reported that on Wednesday, she was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting. Her booty included two celebrity magazines and two packets of batteries, worth $16(trash!). Interestingly the actress was en-route to Albuquerque from LA to work on the movie, oh! yes you guessed it right, Love Ranch. She was booked for investigation of misdemeanor shoplifting and released after agreeing to appear in court on March 5.

The movie Love Ranch is set in the '70s and is directed by Academy Award winning-filmmaker Taylor Hackford. It is currently filming in New Mexico and is expected for release sometime in 2009. Though her loot was all a trash but certainly for Bai Ling and her Love Ranch, it was worth the trouble. Lights, Camera, Action…life's indeed a stage.

You can hear me interview with Bai Ling at Bai Ling Interview at the Newport Beach Film Festival.
