Chad Lowe Kicks Off Newport Beach Film Festival

Chad Lowe and hundreds of film fans stood in line in good spirits outside the Edwards theater in Fashion Island dressed in Versace, Ralph Lauren and Armani giggling like teenage kids star struck at the procession of limousines that rolled up to the red carpet. Chad Lowe showed his new movie "Beautiful Ohio."

My Entertainment News reporter PJ Yatar was on hand as the doors finally opened up film goers marveled at the throng of photographers and media personalities that bordered the theaters’ red carpet entrance. When Leigh Steinburg took to the podium it was official the 2007 Newport Beach Festival had begun.

John Wayne’s 100th Birthday Celebration Part 2 News

John Wayne’s birthday was celebrated at the Newport Beach Film Festival with a big party at the Island hotel in Newport Beach. Great food and an open bar was the perfect setting for his friends and family to get together and share stories. My Entertainment News was on hand to talk to them and record their comments and birthday wishes.

The eighth annual Newport Beach Film Festival launched with a splendiferous display of elegance and filmmaking glitz. On hand to launch the festival was the Mayor of Newport Beach Steve Rosansky, Janice Arrington, Orange County Film Commissioner and Chad Lowe with the new title of “Director” for his movie “Beautiful Ohio.”

They all had to walk the Red Carpet of fame past the press to get into the theater. My Entertainment News is covering the Newport Beach Film Festival like it has never been covered before. By partnering with other organizations we have six film crews following and reporting on the festival.

This means that so far we have video reports coming back on the opening night with Chad Lowe, “Moondance Alexander” a wonderful new film. With the John Wayne Birthday Celebration we have interviews with Patrick Wayne, Ethan Wayne, Pilar Wayne, John Wayne’s grandchildren and even one of his producers A. C Lyles from Paramount Pictures. My Entertainment News will be bringing a very special phone interview with Maureen O’Hara that has some unique John Wayne and John Ford stories to you.

The Newport Beach Film Festival came inlike a big friendly tsunami. The big Newport theater was transformed with red carpets, a media wall and rows of cameras and reporters. My Entertainment News had six video crews filming and doing interviews due to a cooperative agreement with two other news groups. We are reviewing the footage and will be putting opening night video up within a day or two.

Of course Chad Lowe arrived and talked about the new movie he directed “Beautiful Ohio.” The theater was practically full. That is something because that particular location is so big it almost never gets full. The mayor of Newport Beach, Steve Rosansky, was on hand and we caught up with him and caught some of his thoughts on the festival on tape. In addition the super sports agent and main festival sponsor Leigh Steinberg talked about how he became involved eight years ago feeling that this was something that had to be done.

Later another sponsor, Wing Lam from Wahoos Fish Tacos, was at the huge party at Fashion Island wearing a very cool Hawaiian chef’s shirt.

John Wayne’s 100th Birthday Celebration at the Newport Beach Film Festival

John Wayne’s 100^th birthday is being celebrated in Newport Beach, California at the 8^th Newport Beach Film Festival. A press briefing was held on John Wayne’s former boat, the Wild Goose, to announce the launch of the official John Wayne web site JohnWayne.com. The press conference also was used for the announcement of the Newport Beach Film Festival’s retrospective of John Wayne’s works.

John Wayne News Video On 100th Birthday Celebration

The attendance of four generations of John Wayne’s family made the event extra special. During the press conference the speakers included a short tribute by Pilar Wayne, John Wayne’s wife for many years. Ethan Wayne and Patrick Wayne also shared stories growing up and working in films with their famous father. On hand was the former captain of the Wild Goose, Bert Minshall, who shared some very colorful sea stories in private on the bridge of the 136 foot converted minesweeper.

This is the first of a number of stories on the John Wayne birthday celebration and the 8^th Newport Beach Film Festival. The festival starts April 19 with the film “Beautiful Ohio” starring William Hurt and Rita Wilson. The film is the directorial debut of Chad Lowe who is expected to attend the premier night.

Michael Berlin is a well known screenwriter, playwright and psychologist, who has consulted with The Newport Beach Film Festival, The Orange County Museum of Art, and The Orange County Performing Arts Center. Michael is the founder of The Jewish Film festival of Orange County which now enters its 15th year. Michael has written animated series, Bruno the Kid, has produced House Calls, a reality series and created pilots for CBS, Vice Girls and ABC Lorne and Max. The feature films include Anguish, which has been winner of six European Film Awards; Paramount’s Breaking Point and Republic Pictures and the Robo-Warrior series for Paramount Pictures.

In this podcast, Michael Berlin gives valuable tips on how to start as a screenwriter, how to write good scripts, and much more. Michael has written, produced or consulted on several television episodes like Miami Vice, Cagney and Lacey, Hunter, Earth: Final Conflict, Diagnosis: Murder, Beauty & The Beast, The Exile, The Outer Limits and many more. Michael also talks about how he started as a psychologist in New York. He later hooked up with a parter and wrote Miami Vice.

Michael says to be a good screenwriter you have to love to read and write. You have to learn to use language properly. He also advices using good softwares for formatting the script properly. Michael says it is important for new writers that their scripts reach right people. It is extremely essential for those entering the industry to do their homework first.
