The Newport Beach Film Festival- 2009
The Newport Beach Film Festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary by showcasing more than 400 independent and studio films from over 30 countries around the world. There will be everything from premiers of contemporary cinema to live fashion shows, giving an ultimate festival experience to the filmmakers.
Starting from April 23-30, 2009, the festival will include screening of documentary, short, feature length narrative, animated and student films. All the films will be screened at the Regency Lido Theatre, The Big Newport and Edwards Island cinemas at the Fashion Island.
The eight day long festival will start with the opening night screening of Lymelife, a Screen Media film at 7.00pm at Edwards Big Newport. There will be nightly special events at the festival including: filmmakers receptions, red carpet galas, Q & A sessions, seminars and international spotlights.
Screening of Lymelife will be followed by an Opening Night Gala at the Bloomingdale’s Courtyard, with more than 20 Newport Beach area restaurants. A fashion show by Bloomingdale and a special performance by Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity will make the evening more glamorous and happening.
The Via Lido Plaza Courtyard will be the closing night celebration venue, where premier screening of 500 Days of Summer will take place. This will be further complemented by live entertainment and other festivities. The films will be screened throughout the city that has a rich history in film making and offers shopping, dining & other recreational activities.
